Absolutely Normal Chaos
by Sharon Creech
 |
This book is awesome! I
really enjoyed it. This book is about a girls seemingly "normal" life. It all
starts when her English teacher assigns them a journal over the summer. Mary
Lou, the main character, does not think this is so hot. She does not even know
what a journal IS. But suddenly her summer seems to get interesting when her
cousin Carl Ray comes to live with them for a while. Then she falls in LOVE with
Alex. During the course of the summer she fills 6 journals, the only problem
is.....she doesn't want anyone to read them!!! So if you want to know what
happens...read this book!--book suggested by Dawn

The Girls by Amy Goldman Koss
 |
The Girls
is a compelling novel that describes the
social relationships of five middle school girls. The story begins with
Maya who has moved to a suburban township from inner-city Las Angeles after a
neighbor shoots a boy with a gun. Upon arrival of her new school Maya has
quasi-celebrity status because of the gun-happy neighbor, and the leader of the
popular clique, Candace, takes Maya into the group. After spending a great
deal of time with the four girls in the group Candace gets bored with Maya and
underhandedly convinces the rest of the clique to dump Maya. The drama
truly unfolds as each remaining girl must
decide to whom their allegiances belong.--book suggestion by Mrs. Babin
