Once Upon a
Time. . . There was a class of Seventh Graders at Sarasota Christian School. They were a joyful bunch of kids who were said to be curious, playful and incredibly bright. One day these Seventh Graders decided they would like to leave a legacy for the littlest of students at SCS--the Kindergarteners. So, the curious, playful and incredibly bright Seventh Graders adopted the Kindergarteners as their "buddies." The Kindergarteners loved their Seventh Grade Buddies as they read books, wrote stories, and frolicked on the playground together. The teachers, too, were so impressed by the way that the Kindergarteners and Seventh Graders interacted that a Kindergarten Buddy Picnic was planned to celebrate the year's festivities. Alas, the Seventh Graders had no parting gift to give to these precious friends. So, some ingenious teacher suggested that the Seventh Graders use their skills as writers and artists to create a special picture book based on a folk tale from somewhere else in the world to give to their buddy as a remembrance of their time together. . . |
