Do you want to submit a book recommendation?  Here are some simple guidelines to help you write one!

  1. Choose a book that you have recently read in its entirety (not more than 8 to 12 weeks ago.).  This book should be excellent for students in grades 6 to 9. (No “Boxcar Children” or “Magic Treehouse!”)
  2. Choose a book that you thoroughly enjoyed (if you hated it, don’t recommend it!)
  3. In an email write the name of the book, genre and its author as well as a short “teaser” to get someone else to read the book.  This is like writing a commercial for the book.  The point of a recommendation is to get someone else to read the book!  The teaser should be a descriptive/persuasive paragraph of no more that 150 words.  If you need some examples check out our “Book Picks” pages.  Remember: DON'T EVER TELL THE ENDING!!!
  4. Check your book recommendation for vivid writing and correct spelling and grammar.  If you don’t check your mechanics it won’t be considered for the web site!
